I met Larry Flynt for the first time yesterday. He came to my home with his wife and some of the people from the “HUSTLER” staff. This was the result of an invitation from “HUSTLER” to direct a fantasy sequence for an upcoming series in the magazine.	J’ai rencontré hier Larry Flynt pour la première fois. Il est venu chez moi avec sa femme et certains membres du personnel du mensuel pornographique « HUSTLER ». Cela fait suite à une invitation de « HUSTLER » pour que je dirige une scène fantastique pour une série à venir dans ce magazine.
The next day my wife and I went to the “HUSTLER” offices and had a long talk with him. That is why I am writing this piece now. I had been previously aware of a few facts surrounding Larry’s legal problems, but not being a regular “HUSTLER” reader, the wretched details of the story were not clear to me. The discussion I had with him filled in several blanks.	Le lendemain, ma femme et moi sommes allés aux bureaux de « HUSTLER » et avons eu un long entretien avec lui. C’est pourquoi j’écris cet article en ce moment. J’étais déjà au courant de certains faits concernant les problèmes juridiques de Larry mais, vue que je ne suis pas un lecteur régulier de « HUSTLER », ne m’étaient pas clairs les misérables détails de cette histoire. La discussion que j’ai eue avec lui a comblé plusieurs lacunes.
I think Larry Flynt is a brave man. I also think that what has been done to him, in and out of U.S. courts, is as disgusting as anything ever printed in this magazine.	Je pense que Larry Flynt est un homme courageux. Je pense aussi que ce qui lui a été fait, dans et hors les tribunaux des États-Unis, est plus nul que tout ce qui a été jamais publié dans ce magazine.
Whether you agree with his editorial policies, his sense of humor or his sexual attitudes (even I do not score 100% in all those categories), we ought to stop and think for a moment about what has been DONE to this guy in the name of AMERICAN JUSTICE. I don’t waste a lot of time feeling sorry for people, since most of them make their own problems, but after reading about the two obscenity cases in the November Publisher’s Statement, I got pissed off, because that sort of ignorance (especially when it becomes violent, as in the Lawrenceville, Georgia, incident) is something that any rational person should condemn as conduct unbecoming a judicial system that pretends to be the best in the FREE WORLD.	Même si l’on n’est pas d’accord avec sa politique éditoriale, son sens de l’humour ou ses penchants sexuels (je ne le suis moi-même pas à 100 % dans toutes ces catégories), nous devrions nous arrêter un instant pour réfléchir à ce qui lui a été fait au nom de la JUSTICE AMÉRICAINE. Généralement je ne perds pas beaucoup de temps à compatir les autres, la plupart d’entre eux créent eux-mêmes leurs problèmes, mais je me suis fâché après avoir lu dans la déclaration de l’éditeur de novembre à propos des deux procès pour obscénité parce que ce genre d’ignorance (surtout quand elle devient violente, comme dans l’attentat à Larry Flynt de Lawrenceville, Géorgie) est une conduite que toute personne rationnelle devrait condamner comme inadmissible par un système judiciaire qui se considère comme le meilleur du MONDE LIBRE.
Must the public be taxed to support courtroom proceedings dragging on for years and years over a fucking CARTOON? Does somebody have to get paralyzed because you don’t like his sense of humor?	Les contribuables doivent-ils payer des impôts pour soutenir des poursuites judiciaires qui durent des années et des années contre un foutu DESSIN ? Est-ce que quelqu’un doit finir paralytique parce que quelqu’un d’autre n’aime pas son sens de l’humour ?
THE “OPTIONAL POINT OF VIEW” (ANYTHING THAT DEVIATES FROM THE FRAUDULENT “NORMS” BEING MERCHANDISED BY INSTANT RELIGIONS AND OTHER BRANCHES OF THE MIND-CONTROL INDUSTRY) IS NOW AN ENDANGERED SPECIES IN AMERICA.	LE « POINT DE VUE DISCRÉTIONNAIRE » (TOUT CE QUI DÉVIE DES FAUX « NORMES » ÉCOULÉES PAR LES RELIGIONS INSTANTANÉES ET D’AUTRES BRANCHES DE L’INDUSTRIE DU CONTRÔLE DE L’ESPRIT) EST, DE NOS JOURS, UNE ESPÈCE À RISQUE D’EXTINCTION EN AMÉRIQUE.
IGNORANCE IS NOT BLISS. IGNORANCE IS MERELY IGNORANT. MANY PEOPLE IN THE U.S. HAVE A GOOD EXCUSE FOR BEING UNEDUCATED (OUR SCHOOLS… EVEN THE GOVERNMENT WILL ADMIT TO THAT), BUT HARD-CORE AMERICAN IGNORANCE, AND THE WAY IN WHICH IT IS WORSHIPPED AND REWARDED HERE, IS A DISEASE.	L’IGNORANCE N’EST PAS BÉATITUDE. L’IGNORANCE EST TOUT SIMPLEMENT IGNORANTE. BEAUCOUP DE PERSONNES AUX ÉTATS-UNIS ONT UNE EXCUSE POUR ÊTRE ANALPHABÈTES (NOS ÉCOLES… MÊME LE GOUVERNEMENT L’ADMETTRA), MAIS L’IRRÉDUCTIBLE IGNORANCE AMÉRICAINE ET LA MANIÈRE DONT ELLE EST VÉNÉRÉE ET PRIMÉE PAR ICI SONT PATHOLOGIQUES.
Things in this magazine, described by some as repulsive, can “optionally” be interpreted as drastic therapy for an atrophied physical function - in this case the ability (and the desire) to sort YOUR OWN OPTIONS: to confront and compute, ON YOUR OWN TERMS, the unthinkable, the unspeakable, the outrageous, without first having it filtered through the thought-process and bizarre motivations of a “somebody” somewhere who has taken it upon him-or-herself to tell YOU how and what to THINK. Larry is a tough son of a bitch, and - as his health improves - so will this magazine (something that he is almost unbelievably proud of).	Larry est un fils de pute dur à cuire et quand sa santé s’améliora, ce magazine (dont il est presque incroyablement fier) le fera aussi.
I hope he can keep his health, his sense of humor and his willpower in top form during the difficult months ahead.	J’espère qu’au cours des prochains mois difficiles, il pourra garder en pleine forme sa santé, son sens de l’humour et sa force de volonté.
